About
Tariq is a successful business executive and an entrepreneur. He brings over 30 years of CFO/COO experience, including cash flow forecasting, loan covenants, forward-looking financial management, strategic exit planning, and M&A. He has a passion for helping grow privately owned businesses. He works closely with entrepreneurs and SMBs to find the right solutions and personnel to achieve strategic growth and scaling and meet day-to-day operational challenges.
Tariq learned entrepreneurship early with his family-run business, and later owned and operated small businesses. He has substantial experience in leadership, business development, team building, financial management, and implementing practical processes to achieve repeatable predictable results.
Tariq has a university degree and is an alumnus of Ernst & Young. He has since worked globally in six countries. He thoroughly understands the multicultural and international commerce of today. With his broad-based experience, Tariq helps to implement best practices suitable for SMBs, to boast profitability and growth.
He is involved in the local Miami-Fort Lauderdale community:
- Co Chair FENG, Fort Lauderdale Chapter
- Habitat for Humanity of Broward- CDFI, Task Force for low-cost housing initiatives, via CDFI Funding
- First Tee Golf – Broward, Ambassador- Fundraising for underprivileged kids through Golf events.
- Board member at various not-for-profit organisation for 25 years.
- Active at Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce events

Before FocusCFO
Prior to joining FocusCFO, Tariq passionately ran his own embedded Fractional CFO firm, for 17 years, helping dozens of SMBs. He worked with owners & entrepreneurs to introduce & set up processes, including improving cash flows, quicker recovery of receivables, compliance with bank/ loan covenants, funding for strategic growth, M&A, exit planning, and stock exchange IPOs. His experience covered a variety of industries, including manufacturing, franchise operations, real estate, IT, food & beverage, and various trades/service providers.
Prior to that, Tariq served as CFO, VP of Finance and Controller, with multinationals & their subs, like Coca Cola, BP, BE. There, he learned & mastered best practice built over hundreds of years in business & financial management. He later cascaded these best practices to owners, and entrepreneurs at many of his SMB clients.
