About
Michael spent the first 12 years of his career in financial services, specifically insurance (actuarial consultant then global property & casualty broker at MMC) and banking (corporate finance, asset management, investment banking & capital markets, private wealth). Throughout this period, his interest in taking financial tools and doing more to help low-income and underserved markets grew and grew. In 2011 Michael launched a second career, focused on micro-enterprises and job creation domestically and internationally. He invested in some agricultural businesses, ran an accelerator for startups, advised an employee ownership consultancy, and led a few organizations over this period. For the past 10 years, Michael co-founded and built up a leading provider of solar-powered irrigation equipment in East Africa.
