Before FocusCFO

Jeff began his career at KPMG and later deepened his financial expertise as a financial analyst while earning the CFA designation. Early in his career he helped found Travelscape.com, a pioneer in the early days of e-commerce travel. As CFO, he helped the leadership team navigate and understand the complexities of a rapidly growing business while learning a new industry, building partnerships, and reaching customers in entirely new ways. The company ultimately became part of Expedia and remains one of the most profitable parts of that organization today. He later served for 18 years as Chief Financial Officer of Guest Services, Inc., a mid sized multiple location hospitality company, where he worked closely with the owners and CEO. Over the past five years he has also worked as a consultant and fractional CFO helping small and mid sized companies uncover hidden profit leaks and identifying opportunities for sustainable growth.

What attracted you to FocusCFO?

I was drawn to FocusCFO because it combines two things I enjoy most: working with a variety of growing companies and collaborating with a community of experienced CFOs. Each new client brings the opportunity to learn something new while helping business owners better understand the financial side of their business.

I enjoy digging into the numbers to uncover hidden profit leaks and opportunities that may have been overlooked. I’m also excited to work alongside other CFO peers, sharing ideas and using the resources FocusCFO provides to bring these business improvement methods to more companies in the Northern Virginia and Washington, DC business community.
