One example came during the pandemic, when he helped a personal service business navigate shutdown restrictions while keeping both the owner and employees informed, focused, and reassured. By maintaining the full staff through the uncertainty, the business was able to successfully reopen and move forward together once restrictions were lifted. David believes the best financial leadership goes beyond reporting results—it helps people understand the “why” behind the work, leading to stronger decisions, better alignment, and long-term success.

Prior to FocusCFO, David Hamm gained more than 30 years of experience working across manufacturing, distribution, retail, recruiting, mining, and service businesses. His background spans everything from accounting and cash management to risk oversight and strategic planning, along with hands-on experience buying, selling, and operating businesses of different sizes. Through those experiences, David learned that while every business has its own personality and challenges, the fundamentals of strong operations and financial discipline remain the same. Today, he helps growing SMBs combine those fundamentals with practical, business-specific strategies that improve performance, strengthen decision-making, and support long-term success.
