Dan has over 30 years of experience in finance and accounting leadership roles. He has been a trusted strategic advisor to C-level executives with extensive financial planning and analysis experience in retail and financial services industries. He has extensive experience in budgeting and forecasting, capital planning, financial reporting, data analysis, modeling, product profitability, KPI dashboarding, and expense management. He excels at setting priorities, measuring strategy execution, and managing risks/opportunities to achieve financial targets.
Before FocusCFO
Prior to joining FocusCFO, Dan had a long 21 year retail career with Big Lots Stores where he led Financial Planning & Analysis and most recently served as their Ecommerce CFO. Dan started his career in public accounting with KPMG and also spent several years with JPMorgan Chase in corporate accounting and investment advisory FP&A roles.
Dan earned his MBA from The Ohio State University and his BS in Accounting and Finance (Cum Laude) from Miami University. Dan also is a CPA (inactive).
- What is your favorite book? Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and Moonwalking with Einstein
- What is your favorite movie? I love 80's movies. My favorites include The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and Ghostbusters.
- What was your favorite vacation? Visiting Spain with my family and my sister's family. Highlights were touring the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, the Alhambra in Granada, and the Prado Museum in Madrid.
