Rick Samuelson

Mr. Samuelson spent the bulk of his career in investment banking, virtually all of it located in Asia. As an investment banker, he specialized in equity and equity derivatives at both UBS and BNP Paribas. Mr. Samuelson began his career as an analyst and in his final position as a Managing Director, he served as the global head of equity and equity derivatives for both Asia and Japan at BNP Paribas.

After settling in Gig Harbor, Washington in 2008, he focused on angel investing, primarily through the Keiretsu forum. He has invested in more than 25 companies and enjoyed six exits. He currently serves on the Boards of LooprAI and Indicio Tech (board observer) and previously served on the Boards of Kineta, Inc. (KA on Nasdaq) and Bird Buffer, LLC.

Mr. Samuelson holds a BA from Yale, an MA from the Fletcher School at Tufts, and an MBA in finance from the Wharton School. His professional accreditations include the CFA, FRM, FDP, and CAIA designations.

I have served most recently as Managing Partner of SWAN Venture Group. The firm focuses on bringing Japanese capital in US early stage companies. The firm currently has only one fund operating which is closed and no plans to open additional funds.
